ʻO wau ʻo Hoʻoipo Bertelmann a ʻo Waimea kuʻu kulāiwi. 

Growing up, I always admired the beauty of the puʻu in Waimea but never heard stories about them until I was in middle school. As I got older I noticed my interest in history and moʻolelo of place and I didnʻt understand why until now. For the sense of remembering and understanding.

As a kupa of Waimea, I would first like to mahalo all of the kamaʻāina of Waimea, who allowed me to gather their life experiences and for openly sharing your knowledge of place with me.
